SWTPC Computer Systems: Nothing beats experience
This three-page advert, which is great for viewers in dark mode but which is not so good for the consumption of black printing ink, shows that Southwest Technical Products (Computers) Company Ltd was still alive and well into the era of the IBM PC.
Rather than show any particular machine, it instead is demonstrating how much software is available - in particular how many specialist fields were covered by software running on SWTPC's machines, from insurance and building right through to the super-specialist field of microfilm retrieval.
With configurations running from £4,000 to £40,000 - about £19,800 to £198,400 in 2026 - it also claims that the company's S/09, which was based on the Motorola 6809, was running benchmarks faster than a DEC PDP 11/70 minicomputer.
