We find an actual working payphone and make a call
It's the morning after Hannah and Sean's wedding, and after breakfast we walk back up to the village hall to see what's occuring and to give Hannah the set of whistles that Fred's made - partly as a science project and partly as a wedding gift - out of 15mm Hep2O plastic pipe. Then, we drive over to Throwleigh to see Sis and Matt and to take the dogs for a walk and do a bit of lunch, and later on in the early evening we go over to Hannah's parents' cottage a few miles down the road from King's Nympton for some left-over wedding food and a bit of a chat. The following morning we say goodbye to the rented house and head off on the 300 mile drive back to Suffolk.
previous album: Hannah and Sean's Wedding, King's Nympton, Devon - 3rd May 2026
We find an actual working payphone and make a call
The marquee is almost fully disassembled
Hannah has a go on Fred's physics-project whistle
Yesterday's stuff is packed away
A table full of wedding flowers
The marquee cover is laid out to dry
King's Nympton parish hall
Isobel heads back with some flowers
King's Nympton houses
Isobel walks past the excellent Grove Inn
A new Charles III Rex post box
A view of the road towards Burrington
Perhaps the only working payphone in Devon
We're at Sis's for lunch
Isobel outside Sis's gaff
A relatively rare KX100 phonebox in 1990s branding
A shed merges with the undergrowth
Matt takes the dogs for a walk
Throwleigh in Devon
Thatched cottages in Throwleigh
We investigate a 1920s memorial cross
Bluebells in the churchyard at Throwleigh
Matt opens the gate
Stepping stones through the boggy ground
Harry kicks some dandelion seed-heads
There's a large shiny beetle on a rock
Harry looks back in the woods
The dogs fight over a big stick
Doug Dog gives up on the stick
Harry and Matt head off back up the path
A tree is wrapped in epic ivy branches
Harry's got his own giant stick
The two dogs
Harry roams around with his stick
Matt, Fred and Doug Dog near Throwleigh
Sis in her lounge
We visit Hannah's parents' cottage
The cottage near King's Nympton
We eat some left-over wedding food
Fred plays some random tunes on his whistle
There's an awesome view from the back garden
The rented house's kitchen
The lounge of our rented pad - the Hawthorns
We say goodbye to our hired cottage
The delights of Taunton Deane services
Isobel heads off on a search for a tiny coffee
The anti-bird bin chains aren't working
A lovely silver Jaguar drives out of the car park
We get dirty road food just off the A303
Harry tries to duck out at Countess Services
Isobel and Fred
We wander back to the car
A derelict non-BT phone box
Countess Services just off the A303
The hire car waits in the overflow car park
