A recently-thatched house near our rented pad
It's finally the day of Sean and Hannah's - or Hannah and Sean's - wedding in the picturesque village of King's Nympton in the Umberleigh parish of North Devon, around 300 miles, or about seven hours' drive, from Suffolk. That turns out to be not that much, as Phil's over from New Jersey, there's a guest from Sri Lanka or Bali or somewhere, and another from actual Australia. It's a great setting for a folky wedding, with lots of ad-hoc folk music in various forms, as well as a ceilidh band, and some great food, including hog roast, piles of both types of scone - Devon or Cornwall, apply jam as appropriate - and even bring-a-cheese, to which we've contributed an entire round of Suffolk's own Baron Bigod. After a few sessions of mad ceilidh dancing, there's a continuation of dancing with a suitable wedding playlist, playing through Sean's PA along with his retro disco lights.

A recently-thatched house near our rented pad
Harry and Isobel head to the wedding
The wedding marquee
There's a bit of a sound check
Hanging around the Piers table
Pre-wedding mingling in the Parish Hall
Hamish roams around
The music dudes set up in the corner
The photographer makes an adjustment to Sean
Pebbles and I-I, possibly
The marquee fills up
Sean's got the git-box out
Petal confetti cones are handed out
Hamish gets a confetti cone
The 'Maid of Devon' leads the procession
Hannah's mum
Hannah arrives
The celebrant does some introductions
The first reading commences
There's a reading from the Velveteen Rabbit
Sean and the wedding celebrant
A bit of handfasting occurs
There's a musical interlude
Phil reads a bit of Winnie the Pooh
Harry, Isoble and Jane
Rowan and Hannah
The theme from Detectorists is sung
Hannah and Sean
Rings are applied
Hannah and Sean share a kiss
The teddy bear gets a look in
Karl does a reading
The marriage ceremony is complete
Sean and Hannah squeeze through the crowds
The folk band accompanies the exit
Rowan, Pam and Sydney
Isobel with a wedding hat and shades
Tom's funky shirt is shown off
Hamish gets a hug
Bright tops in the folk crowd
It's busy in the parish hall
Post-wedding conversation
More mingling
Hannah in the crowds
Sydney, Anja and Rowan
Isobel, Harry and Phil
A singer provides some background tunes
The Waterboys' Whole of the Moon is the theme
There's a tiny baby
Conversation on the Stars table
Sean and Rowan
The Golden Boys massive
Outside the marquee
Hannah's university gang
Sean chats
The folk-music gang
Guests out on the lawn
Hannah's sailing group
The wedding taxi rank
Phil and Isobel
The Maid of Devon makes a speech
Hannah leads Sean up to the top table
Another quick snog
Harry's having a great time as usual
Loads of brownies and strawberries arrive
Sean finds something amusing
It's Hannah's turn for a laff
There's another toast
Sean puts his hands up
There's some sort of speech two-hander
Pam points at the bunting
Tables are loaded with scones
Hamish, Jane and Phil take the dog for a walk
King's Nympton in the 1920s
A view from the lobby
Another view of the packed room
A game of Splat the Rat is played
Fred has a go at the peg game
There's some horseshoe hurling
A card game of matching pairs
Someone contributes to the community painting
A view over the parish hall hedge
A sing-around music session occurs
Hannah joins in on whistle
Hannah does a bit of guitar
Outside, a bit of limbo is happening
Hannah's ready for the wheelbarrow
The wheelbarrow race is off
Another wheelbarrow session occurs
Back inside, the folk music continues
Two small boys watch the action from the floor
Hannah and Sean do a number
The ceilidh kicks off
There's a small boy in the middle of the action
Dancing through an arch
Sean gets a bit of Baron Bigod cheese
Tom and Rowan do some spins
There are some more wheelbarrows in the hall
Ceilidh dancing
Hannah gets into it
Sean and Phil
Hamish loads up on cheese
There's some sort of line dancing
The ceilidh band
More line dancing
Hannah in a group photo
A line of non-dancers
Phil does a basket
Hannah's golden shoes
The married couple take a turn around the hall
Hannah and dance partner run up the middle
There's a dance involving hats
Sis arrives and joins in
Hannah's latest dance partner is nearly outside
Hannah busts some funky moves
Dancing action
Pam has a dance
Sean dances with Anja
Hannah models her hat with pop-up ears
A small girl gets swung around
The wheelbarrows are out again
It proves too much pushing barrows around
Sean brings another wheelbarrow in
Hannah gets wheeled around
There's an arms in the air moment
Hannah does low fives
It's Sean's turn in the barrow
Sean in a wheelbarrow
Phil has a go of the Pikachu-like hat
Hannah flakes out
Hannah leads a conga around the hall
Even the dog is doing the conga
The conga continues
Sean gets ready to do a last couple of numbers
A group photo of all the 'survivors'
There's a final singing moment
It's a rousing finale moment
Hannah's on the floor again
