Hannah and Sean's Wedding, King's Nympton, Devon - 3rd May 2026

It's finally the day of Sean and Hannah's - or Hannah and Sean's - wedding in the picturesque village of King's Nympton in the Umberleigh parish of North Devon, around 300 miles, or about seven hours' drive, from Suffolk. That turns out to be not that much, as Phil's over from New Jersey, there's a guest from Sri Lanka or Bali or somewhere, and another from actual Australia. It's a great setting for a folky wedding, with lots of ad-hoc folk music in various forms, as well as a ceilidh band, and some great food, including hog roast, piles of both types of scone - Devon or Cornwall, apply jam as appropriate - and even bring-a-cheese, to which we've contributed an entire round of Suffolk's own Baron Bigod. After a few sessions of mad ceilidh dancing, there's a continuation of dancing with a suitable wedding playlist, playing through Sean's PA along with his retro disco lights.
