Pen Portraits: what happened next
Pen portraits of post-graduation life, as submitted to the 69th Association newsletter over the period 1994 - 2011
Gerry Tulett (Electrical)
Your request for pen portraits has finally stirred me particularly after reading Gordon Hocking's account and realising that we must have been together on that three month detachment to Townsville from Wyton since it went on consecutive years. I remember being accompanied by a snoop but had no idea he was 'one of us'.
I went to Wyton from Halton with Neil Whittaker and Adrian Thorpe (Instruments) and Dave Thompson (Electrical). From there it was to Cyprus for Suez plus two and a half years, then back to Wyton. Met quite a few of the 69th coming through Nicosia at that time. I was commissioned into the Electrical Branch in 1967 and left the RAF in 1979.
I retired at the end of last year from Feedback Instruments where I have been employed since leaving the service. I have had several hats, mostly, related to Sales or Marketing, and have travelled widely particularly in East and Southern Africa. More recently it has been Europe, in training and education establishments. Neil Maidment (Engines) and I are members of the same golf club and only realised our common roots at the First 69th Association Reunion. Golf, bowls, bridge and grandchildren occupy my time from now on.
