The new Hay Hill on a wet day
Isobel's got a couple of work meetings in Norwich, so it's a chance to tag along and roam around Norwich for a couple of hours. Although it's not exactly first thing in the morning, the market has mostly not yet opened and the streets are quiet, so it's quite reminiscent of wandering around Norwich on a Sunday back in the 80s, before the implementation of the Sunday Trading act in 1994. Which is quite appropriate, as the roaming around includes a trip up to Valentine Street to the old rented house occupied in 1987, and a look to see if the old Soman-Wherry offices - once the Crocodile pub, and now just an anonymous house - are still there.

The new Hay Hill on a wet day
A damp Haymarket
The long-present City Fish on the market
The vegetable stalls have set up early
A striking illustration on a florist's HGV
Norwich market is quiet before 10am
The kitchen equipment stall
The door to the Undercroft Gallery is open
Steps on the way to St. Peter Mancroft
There's a pigeon explosion
A view over Norwich Market
Lower Goat Lane in Norwich
Further down Lower Goat Lane
A quiet Pottergate
Old chairs outside the Grosvenor Fish Bar
A zebra crossing on St. Benedict's
A graffiti alley off St. Benedict's
An old sign for F. Moore family butchers
What's left of St. Benedict's church, bombed in 1942
The back of The Moosey Residency
A bit of the Roman wall on Grapes Hill
Nosher's old gaff on Valentine Street
The former Arthur Valori chip shop on Dereham Road
The saddest thing: a lost cat poster
Soman-Wherry's former offices - the Crocodile
Inside Panks Warehouse
The River Wensum on a grey day
The thatched Hampshire Hog Yard
Saint Margaret's Street in Norwich
Soundclash Records on St. Benedict's
There's not much left of a chained-up bicycle
Bullard's Anchor Brewery in Coslany
The former Bullard's Brewery on Westwick Street
An unusual Queen Victoria post box near the market
An empty shop on Castle Street
The closed-down Body Shop
St. Peter Mancroft church
A bridleway and bridge over the railway in Dunston
