A beacon is constructed in Diss Park
We're at the Cornhall in Diss for a rousing and thoughtful one-woman performance about the life of activist and singer Miriam Makeba. Then, we're at the village hall to play some table tennis, and finally we're off to the Lower Common Room at the University of East Anglia for a Richard Hawley gig, which Isobel gets tickets for on a whim a few days before as a Fathers' Day thing. As we get there early, there's time to have a quick look around at some of the UEA's famous 1960s modernist concrete architecture, including the listed "Ziggurat" student accomodation, before a quick drink in the students' union bar. We then wander round to the LCR to watch a good performance by Richard Hawley and his twenty guitars - seemingly one for each number.
