The bike path by the A143 is a bit overgrown
The BSCC at Finningham, and Stowmarket Teeth, Suffolk - 21st June 2024
Nosher and Isobel are in Stowmarket again for a six-monthly dentist checkup - at the newly-moved Tavern Street, in its fancy new premises across the road. Whilst there, we swing by Asda to pick up some lunch, which we eat in the churchyard of the church of St. Peter and St. Mary - the one with the unusual spirelet that was added in 1994. Before all of that, the BSCC is off to the White Horse at Finningham via Gislingham, as the pub is up for sale. It's the second cycle of the day through Gislingham, adding up to about 42 miles.
next album: The BSCC at Redgrave, Noctilucent Clouds and a Village Hall Party, Brome - 29th June 2024
previous album: Mama Afrika, and Richard Hawley at the UEA, Norwich - 16th June 2024
Gaz gets the beers in at the White Horse
We have a beer outside the White Horse
There's an amusing sign on the hand drier
The little snug bar in the White Horse
A view of the crossroads at Finningham
We stop off at the Four Horsehoes
At the Four Horseshoes in Thornham Magna
A George VI postbox in Stowmarket
We head up to the park by the Food Museum
The pink 18th-century Dairy Cottages
An old Ransome's printing press in the museum
Type cases and other stuff in the print shop
We head back into the town centre
The unusual spirelet of St. Peter's and St. Mary's
The nave of St. Peter's and St. Mary's
Unusual stained glass by Helen Whittaker
A mediaeval bench end
Another of the remaining mediaeval bench ends
Another of Helen Whittaker's Four Seasons windows
Bright windows in the south-east of the church
The Stowmarket town sign
