The sea is fairly lively in Tossa de Mar
A Postcard From Tossa de Mar, Catalunya, Spain - 30th October 2024
We decide to drive up the coast a bit to explore the other "de Mar" - Tossa, which is only about 15km away. It turns out to be quite the find, with the only fortified Mediaeval town on the Catalan coast, a nice beach and a pleasant extended town just beyond the castle walls. Whilst there we eat probably the best tapas we'd yet found anywhere, have a walk up to the lighthouse on the top of the hill inside the fortifications, and visit the Museum of Women.

Prickly Pear cactus on the clifftop
Fishing boats in front of the castle
Hot Dog in a café
The castle walls
Harry's near a statue
There's a crowd on the rocks
A view of Tossa de Mar and Platja Gran
A statue of Ava Gardner
The Catalan flag flies from the highest tower
Isobel and the boys
The ruins of the 12th Century church on Mount Guardí
Isobel and the boys hang around
A giant Prickly Pear cactus on the clifftop
We look out at the view for a bit
The castle walls and the extra-mural town
Harry waves from a distance
Part of the original Mediaeval village
Steps through Vila Vella enceinte
A sad-looking girl in statue form
Harry gets a close-up of a spiky cactus
The old town's well
Some rebuilding near Platja Gran
The streets of the newer part of town
Harry and Isobel in a tapas restaurant
There's a hint of Halloween on a balcony
Our impressive tapas selection arrives
Even the toilets are a bit fancy
We hide out from a heavy rain shower
Fred and Harry are playing phone games
The bar of the tapas café
We stomp off around the lanes of Tossa
A fishing boat in the Museum of Women
A traditional fireplace with bread oven
Isobel reads some stuff
A slightly horror-film doll in a pram
Some crazy electrics in the street
Harry wanders around
Paint on a wall below a statue
Funky graphics on a wall
Harry inside the parish church of Tossa de Mar
Modern stained glass
A dodgy-looking Supermercat
A BMW Z1 with an appropriate number plate
Back in Lloret de Mar, it's lashing rain again
The La Cova café, after a few beers
