The Lost Architecture of Ipswich, Suffolk - 11th December 2023
Nosher and Isobel are up in Ipswich for an appointment at the Nuffield on the outskirts of town, but before that's done we poke around in the centre of Ipswich for a bit, looking for some lunch. Whilst roaming around, we spot various interesting bits of architecture hidden away.
next album: Christmas Music with the GSB, Gislingham, Suffolk - 15th December 2023
previous album: A Tour of the Cathedral, Norwich, Norfolk - 2nd December 2023
There's a knitted pudding on a postbox in Eye
Primary school kids have hung randomness on the tree
Some knotted bollard tops
The back of the derelict Woolworths building
The Walk, off Tavern Street
The impressive Lloyds Bank building
The old Debenhams is lit up for some reason
Debenhams' former menswear department
We get lunch in a Chinese fast-food place
There's an impressive sewing and fabric shop
Funky black-and-white ring patterns on Crown Street
Some sort of late-70s building on Crown Street
A late-20s/arts-and-crafts building on Museum Street
Isobel spots some nice old brick advertising
Harry's handcrafted doughnuts has closed down
Painted clock of the entrance to The Walk
A 1930s building on Tower Street
The grand entrance to the Buttermarket
A timber-framed cottage is absorbed by the new
Timber-framed building on St. Stephen's Street
The late-Victorian Price the Bootmaker shop
Faint remains of the Woolworth sign
Isobel roams around Tacket Street car park
Another look at the derelict Woolworth building
A heap of rubbish has pushed over a wood board
A dedication to King Edward VII at the Nuffield
