Anglesey Abbey and a #StandWithUkraine Demo, Cambridge - 24th August 2022
We head up to Cambridge for a visit, stopping off at Anglesey Abbey near Stow cum Quy, where it's generally very hot. After that, we continue into town, where it's even hotter at 29°, and have a very sweaty half an hour punting up the Cam to the Mathematical Bridge and back. As we're having a well-earned cold drink at the Chop House on King's Parade, a protest march in support of Ukraine is occuring.
next album: The BSCC at the Cross Keys, Redgrave, Suffolk - 25th August 2022

A wooded avenue
We stop for a picnic on some parched grass
The gang have a picnic
Isobel tries juggling with rings
The boys are up in a massive treehouse
A view down to Isobel
Isobel gives Harry a hug on a bench
The remains of a Redwood, struck by lightning twice
The old Abbey at Anglesey
Isobel queues up for ice-creams and drinks
Anglesey Abbey, with a parched brown lawn
Fred scopes out things in the shop
Harry's found some kaleidoscopes
The boys check out Lego in the Grand Arcade
A Lego version of the building of the pyramids
The nave of Great St. Mary
Harry makes it to the top of the tower
Harry and Isobel peer out over Cambridge
A view of King's Parade and King's College
Looking down towards Trinity Street
Punting on the Cam
Isobel does a spot of punting
King's College chapel from the Cam
There are plenty of punts on the river
Nosher punts as Fred does Rubik's cube
We pay up for our half hour of punting
A Covid-19 sign remains on the tarmac
We have cold drinks and chips at the Chop House
A Stand With Ukraine demo assembles
There's a small child under a flag
The demo mills around on King's Parade
Girls in national dress hold a Ukrainian flag
Lots of flags wave around
A small girl looks about
The march sets off
Heading down King's Parade
The march is in full swing
The march funnels through the anti-personnel barriers
We're back in the Grand Parade car park
