Mick the Brick waits on the airfield
Camping at Forest Park, Cromer, Norfolk - 12th August 2022
The van's out on another trip, this time for our first visit to the Forest Park campsite, near Overstrand, just outside Cromer on the North Norfolk coast. The site has quite an active clubhouse, which features a bingo session, quiz, and an actual "meat raffle". Whilst there, we also head into Cromer for a poke around the amusements, and also get the use of a beach hut at Overstrand for a day. Before that, it's a Wednesday ride up to the Yaxley Cherry Tree, where Mick has spotted a dedication to the builders of the Eye Airfield runway - the 2nd Platoon of the 827th Engineers (Airfield), who supplemented the 829th and who apparently set new records for the amount of concrete laid in a given period of time. Mick is surprised by it, not because it's there, but because he's been walking around and hanging out on the airfield for around 65 years and had never seen it before.
