USA Chicken Catches Fire: Gov and the Ambulance, Diss, Norfolk - 19th November 2005
One minute it looks like the whole of Diss is being demolished, the next it looks like the whole of Diss is being set on fire all the time. This time, USA Chicken - a chicken, pizza and kebab shop on Mere Street - has a small fire on Saturday morning. Being out of bed unusually early (9.30am is early) meant being in town at around 11am to catch the mopping-up operation: there were two fire engines, a rozzer-mobile and an ambulance, featuring Gov, who wandered over and gave Nosher a quick look in the back. This was also the day that bought the tragic news of the closure of Nosher's favourite shop in Diss - Revolution Records - which announced it was shutting up shop at the end January 2006. Before that, there are a few photos of Safeway in Diss, shortly before it slides downmarket to become a Morrisons, and after there's a sunset over the A12 near Kelvedon whilst on the way back from Crawley having picked up a vintage Commodore PET computer.
next album: Thornham Walled Garden, and Bob Last Leaves the Lab, Cambridge - 20th November 2005
previous album: The Destruction of Padley's, and Alex Hill at the Barrel, Diss and Banham - 12th November 2005
