Fred and the Suffolk Youth Wind Orchestra, Snape Maltings - 6th September 2026

Fred and the Suffolk Youth Wind Band/Orchestra are playing as part of the annual Gala concert at Snape Maltings, where all three of the county orchestras do a few numbers. However, drop off for rehearsals is around 12.30 and the concert doesn't start until 5pm, so we've got a bit of hanging around to do, which we do by driving over to Aldeburgh for a short walk up and down the beach. The wind band's performance itself is very good, but the highlight of the concert is surely the stunning performance of the solo violin in the main orchestra, who plays Mendelssohn's violin concerto flawlessly and from memory.
