Fred's ready with a welding mask
There's a 90% partical eclipse over Suffolk, so we're out on the patio with a fancy welding mask and the glass from a less-fancy welding mask, as well as Nosher's old childhood telescope which is doing back projections. Just before the peak, Isobel returns with Harry after karate class armed with a couple of large portions of chips, making it officially Eclipse and Chips. Later that evening, as if a good partial eclipse wasn't enough of an astronomical event, it's also the peak of the annual Perseid meteor shower, so we all sit on the lawn watching the night skies for a bit.

Fred's ready with a welding mask
The eclipse is well underway
Cat is fairly unimpressed with it all
Fred's shadow fingers are all eclipses
An old telescope does some solar projections
The partial eclipse reaches its local climax
Hundreds of crescent suns appear on the porch
Harry and Isobel get back from karate
Crescent suns on the shed
Isobel and the boys watch a bit more
Cat watches the proceedings
It's noticeably dim over the side field
A washing-line fleece is covered in crescents
Shadows are all crescents as well
Isobel with a welder's mask
There's a Perseid above the tree
A satellite crosses the Mily Way
