Isobel and Harry head off
Winter Walks around Brome and Hoxne, Suffolk - 2nd January 2023
We do a couple of winter walks - the first is just around a two mile circuit up to the resevoir and back via the Oaksmere, whilst the second is from Brome village hall, up to Oakley and across the fields and river to the Swan Inn in Hoxne, with a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord as a reward, before the walk back.

The wind turbines of Eye airfield
There's a cut-out angel outside the church
Isobel and Harry in the churchyard
Autumn leaves in the graveyard
Harry and Isobel hang around on the lych gate
We continue off up the road
There's a stone pigeon in an alcove
A resevoir is almost empty
Isobel and Harry in the fields
A Buddha head has fallen out of a tree
Harry and Isobel again
The unused K6 phonebox in Brome Street
Thatched cottages on the edge of Oakley
Oakley Park from across the field
Isobel on the path down to the river
Orphaned gate posts in the woods
The remains of a much grander bridge over the river
Isobel inspects a whole row of uprooted trees
Skeleton trees reach for the sky
Hoxne and The Swan pub
The curious Wooden House
An old shop with a Hovis sign
Isobel outside the Hoxne Swan
The back bar hasn't changed much since reopening
Hoxne deli and post office
Hoxne houses in the low winter sun
Isobel on the street
A pleasant view across the fields of Oakley
Isobel outside Brome Hall
