Platform 2 at Diss is busier than usual
The Killers at Carrow Road, Norwich, Norfolk - 9th June 2022
It's another Covid-postponed gig from 2020, this time in the shape of The Killers, who are performing at Norwich City's football ground. We're a bit on the drag getting in as we have to meet up with Megan and Katrina first, as we've got their tickets, and once we get in there are more queues everywhere, especially for the bars. It also takes us a while to find the optimistically-named "Food Village" - home of dodgy burgers and £9.50 portions of fish and chips - and when we finally do pretty much everything has run out anyway. Nosher's not really followed the band since its second album album Sam's Town, so there are quite a few unknown tracks, but the bangers from Hot Fuss are there too, and the band gives a rousing performance. There's also an appearance from Beccles student Grace Ellis, who was plucked from the crowd to play along for the song For Reasons Uknown - just hours after finishing her AS-level exams - who at first looks like she's about to pass out through hyperventilation, but really nails it, much to the enjoyment of the crowd.
Soundtrack for this album:
next album: A Day at the Lake, Weybread Pits, Harleston, Norfolk - 11th June 2022
previous album: A 1940s Timewarp, Site 4, Bungay Airfield, Flixton, Suffolk - 9th June 2022
Isobel strides along the platform at Norwich
Allyson is waiting for us at the Nelson pub
On the river Wensum
The saga of waiting for the others continues
Outside Norwich City football club
Support act Blossoms is doing their thing
The stadium fills up
Isobel and Allyson dance around
The grim 'food village' round the back
The Boy Phil gets a very dodgy hotdog
Megan gets an extra-large beer
The Killers start their set
The first of several confetti explosions
The crowd sees itself
A rainbow briefly appears over the stadium
The Killers in action
Thousands of mobiles wave around getting photos
Another confetti explosion goes off
Isobel in the crowd
Brandon Flowers in a sea of dry ice
An offering to the gods of rock-and-roll
Student Grace Ellis plays a number
More impressive dumming from student Grace
A mobile-phone torch song
There's a duet version of The First Time
A Nevada roadtrip on the screen
There's a wall of pyrotechnics
A confetti and streamer explosion goes off
A big ball of streamers lands in the stands
The lasers are turned on
Laser action over the crowds
The stage after the finale - Mr Brightside
The train to Diss is heaving
Diss Station has never been so busy
Hint: you can use the left and right cursor keys to navigate between albums, and between photos when in the photo viewer
