Genesis at the O2, North Greenwich, London - 24th March 2022

Nosher and Sean are at the O2 to see the much-postponed last-ever Genesis tour, which was originally supposed to have been in 2020. Phil Collins is looking frail and can't walk about much, let alone play the drums any more, but can still belt the songs out vocally, but the biggest revelation is in son Nic Collins' drum-playing ability, which is youthful and stunning. Combined with Tony Banks' choice of more analogue sounds for his keyboards, the band actually sounds closer to their early-80s live heyday than they have for ages - right down to the appearance in the set of the song Duchess, which hasn't been performed since the Three Sides Live tour. The light show is also properly impressive, given that at the start there doesn't seem to be any sort of stage set at all: after the first number starts, a whole load of movable lighting gantries appear from nowhere, and continue to move around all night, definitely providing some authentic Genesis lighting experience. Before all of that, Nosher and Harry are in Southwold for a couple of hours on the pier.
