There's a demonstration going on on Las Ramblas
Two Days in Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain - 22nd September 2006
Following a few days as sometime viticulturists near Roussillon, and a trip to Carcassonne, Nosher and Isobel head down to Barcelona for a few days. However, upon arrival, we discover that the whole of Barcelona is booked up on account of some festival, so we end up only staying for a night before retreating to Girona. There's still time though to roam around the area near Las Ramblas and brave the ever-heaving crowds.
next album: Fondue, Housewarmings and The Sock (An Epilogue), Cambridge and Diss - 29th September 2006
previous album: A Couple of Days in Carcassonne, Aude, France - 21st September 2006
125 years for this? Strike!
Isobel gets a bit freaked by the noise
A crockery stall on La Rambla
More crockery and interesting bowls
Colourful ceramic pots for sale on La Rambla
An old couple dance in the street
There's a bit of music going on
The Violentrio do their thing
Some local cheese
Isobel outside the Bar Glaciar in Plaça Réia
The Bar Glaciar
Crowded tables near Glaciar
A customer sticks his tongue out for the photo
Cafés and collonades
In a bar
Plaça Réia
Isobel chats to some random chatty dude
There's massed dancing in Plaça Réia
A couple of dancers on stage
The massed dancers pause for a moment
Street busker on La Rambla
Random streaks of light from a taxi
More long exposure fun from the window of a taxi
The moped massive buzzes around
Barcelona apartment blocks
A box of headless silver fish by a restaurant
Strange goings-on involving feet and talcum powder
Walking the wet streets
Stopping for a coffee
A group of traditionally dressed musicians
The musical family pause for a photo
The crowds on La Rambla
A Cleopatra sits and waits on La Rambla
More traditional dress
A guy with oversized novelty sunglasses
Pointy lanters
Nice building detail: a copper phallus
Graffiti around the edge of La Rambla market
Hundreds of Spanish sausages
Having a laugh whilst selling fruit and veg
Colourful fruit and hanging bananas
More hanging sausages
A nice selection of random foods
The artichoke woman looks at a customer sternly
Small silver tuna
More graffiti
An accordionist does the rounds
Sweet and poignant graffiti: triste
The Mercat St. Josep
A glum-looking dude gives the hairy eyeball
Chinese dragon and an umbrella in a wall
A wind band does a performance in Plaça Réia
Dancing in the rain in Plaça Réia
A pedal taxi
People run from the rain
Wet flagstones and the reflection of chairs
We briefly meet up with Janet and James
Janet and James wander off
An over-exposed smoking dude
The smoking dude watches the world
The wet back streets of Barcelona
A heavily-graffiti'd doorway
Isobel in a tapas bar
A bridge across the street
A harpist in the Gothic Quarter
A harpist entertains passers-by
Back in Girona, there's a wedding going on
Isobel wanders a Girona avenue
A couple outside a tobacconist
The street behind our apartment
There's some lairiness going on
A damp street in Girona
Shiny cobbled steps
Steps to the cathedral
The square by the cathedral in sodium light
Nosher's got a huge insect stuck to the face
The praying mantiss on the café table
A Girona square
