A panorama of Plymouth Sound and the Hoe (916kb, 6000px wide image)
Uni: A Plymouth Hoe Panorama, Plymouth, Devon - 7th May 1986
This is one of several similar attempts at getting a panorama of Plymouth Hoe, as taken from the top of Smeaton's Tower - the iconic former Eddystone lighthouse on Plymouth Hoe. It was the days before digital cameras which auto-stitch such scenes together without effort, whereas here the final version would be painstakingly constructed by "cutting and shutting" photos together over a lightbox in the Fly offices, to see where they should line up. This scanned version is much the same, with chunks of scanned image stiched together by hand with very little adjustment (to preserve the original flavour). The original of this proudly hung on the wall of the student flat for ages. There are also a few other random photos from around Plymouth, and the entire set of individual shots is presented for the sake of completeness and explanation.
